Network Scans

The Scans tab runs a Network Scan from this device — discovering hosts, open ports, and services on the surrounding network so you can find gear that isn't in DashX yet and feed the Topology map.

Run a scan

  1. Open a device (an agent host on the target subnet) → ScansNew scan.
  2. Pick a scan engine:
    • Builtin TCP — fast, no install. Probes common ports (22, 80, 135, 139, 443, 445, 3389). Great for a quick sweep.
    • Nmap — deeper scan with OS detection. Choose a preset (fast, standard, thorough, discovery) or supply custom flags.
  3. Set the Target CIDR (e.g. 143.20.79.0/24).
  4. Start Scan. Results list the discovered hosts, their open ports/services, and (with Nmap) OS guesses. Promote any host into a managed device.

Scans can also run on a schedule so your network picture stays current without manual effort.

note

This is network discovery (finding new hosts on a subnet) — different from the Fleet Scan button, which refreshes data on devices you already manage.
