Diff

Compare two point‑in‑time snapshots of this device's state to answer "what changed?" — across software, services, ports, users, and more.

Compare two snapshots

  1. Open the device → Diff.
  2. Pick snapshot A (the earlier/baseline point) and snapshot B (the later point) from the list.
  3. DashX shows the differences, grouped by category, with a summary of total changes and which categories were affected.

What it compares

Changes are broken out by category so you can zero in fast:

  • Installed Software — packages added, removed, or version‑changed
  • System Services — services that appeared, disappeared, or changed state
  • Open Ports — ports/protocols opened or closed
  • Local Users — accounts added/removed/changed
  • Firewall Rules — rule changes
  • Scheduled Tasks — new/removed cron/scheduled jobs
  • Network Interfaces — IP/interface changes
  • Environment Variables — env changes
tip

When something breaks "for no reason," Diff is the first place to look — it usually surfaces the change nobody remembered making (a new open port, a removed service, an unexpected package). For network running‑config text specifically, use Config Backups.
