SNMP Credentials
Store the SNMP logins DashX uses to poll your network gear for interfaces, LLDP neighbors, bandwidth, and firmware. Define a profile once, then assign it to devices.
Create a credential profile
-
Go to Network → Topology → SNMP Credentials → New profile.
-
Give it a name and set the port (default
161), then choose a version:SNMP v2c
- Community — the community string (e.g.
public, or your read‑only string).
SNMP v3 (recommended — authenticated + encrypted)
- User — the SNMPv3 username.
- Auth protocol (
SHA/MD5) + Auth password. - Priv protocol (
AES/DES) + Priv password.
- Community — the community string (e.g.
-
Save. You can create several profiles (e.g. one per vendor or site).
Assign it to devices
Open a switch/router/firewall → Edit → enable SNMP and pick the credential profile. DashX starts polling and the device's Interfaces tab and the Map fill in.
tip
Prefer v3 where your gear supports it — v2c community strings are sent in the clear. Use a read‑only credential; DashX only needs to read.
